Future Events NATO Advanced Research Workshop (ARW) on "Air Pollution Processes in Regional Scale"

The scientific goal of the workshop is to discuss the physical and chemical processes and phenomena that determine regional air pollution. The state-of-the art of modeling techniques will be assessed and possible improvements will be investigated. The ARW will include three broad topics:
- Regional modeling
- Meteorological and Chemical processes in regional scale
- Special techniques
One session will be devoted to discussions within workgroups while there will be a closing roundtable discussion. The results will be published as a book in "NATO Science Series" of Kluwer Academic Publishers.
The Organizing Committee of the ARW consists of:

- Prof. Dimiter Syrakov, National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, Bulgaria (ARW codirector),
- Dr. Ekaterina Batchvarova, National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, Bulgaria,
- Prof. Dowe Steyn, The University of British Columbia, Canada,
- Prof. Christos Zerefos, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece,
- Dr. Zahari Zlatev, National Environmental Research Institute, Denmark.
Participation in the ARW
The number of participants is limited to about 50. Scientists that are interested in participating in the ARW and/or in giving a talk, should send an application to Dr. Dimitrios Melas with the following information:
- a list of journal publications during the last three years,
- a short explanation of the reasons for your interest and
- information about your contribution to the meeting (either participation in the discussions or a talk; in the latter case send a title and an abstract).
Deadline for the applications is December 20, 2001. The applications will be reviewed by the members of the Organizing Committee. All successful applicants will receive some financial support. Especially, scientists from Greece, Portugal and Turkey may get some additional funding.
