The Geography Department is seeking to fill two tenure-track positions for Fall 2001 or Winter 2002. Ph.D. is required for both positions at time of appointment.

Position 1. Assistant/Associate professor with GIS/Secondary Specialty. The successful applicant will be expected to take a leadership role in co-ordinating campus-wide GIS programs; have a demonstrated ability to secure funding; develop and support GIS lab and curriculum; have a secondary interest that complements the department's and university's specializations.

Position 2. Assistant Professor with a primary interest in Water Resources, Urban Physical Geography, or Resource Economic Geography. The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of expertise, teach introductory GIS, secure funding, and develop a research agenda that complements the department's and university's specializations.

The successful candidate for one of these positions will be expected to teach quantitative methods. All members of the department participate in the university's general education program and Degree Completion Program. Portland State University is a comprehensive public university with approximately 16,000 students. The Geography Department offers bachelors and masters degrees in Geography and a doctoral degree in conjunction with the Environmental Sciences and Resources program. Departmental faculty are also affiliated with the university's School of Urban and Public Affairs and International Studies.
