15 - 19 October 2001, Louvain-la-Neuve, BelgiumFirst announcement
The 25th ITM will be held in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium from 15-19 October 2001. The following key topics will be distinguished:
1. Role of Atmospheric Models in Air Pollution Policy and Abatement trategies.
2. Integrated Regional Modelling (local effects, mesoscale phenomena, regional modelling, one and two way nesting, application of existing models).
3. Global and Long-Range Transport (synoptic, hemispheric & global scales, application of existing models).
4. Regional Air Pollution and Climate (dispersion of climate-sensitive regional contaminants in climate models; direct and indirect climate effects of aerosols and tropospheric ozone).
5. New Developments (microscale to global scale, new models, new extensions to existing models).
6. Model Assessment and Verification (model verification, agreement and/or discrepancy of model results compared to measurements, design of field experiments, use of on-site meteorological data, limits to predictability). The meeting will consist mainly of oral presentations but posters will also be accepted. Intention to offer a presentation or poster must be received by Carlos Borrego, Aveiro, together with an abstract (1 page in total) containing essential information and designation of key topic NO LATER THAN 10th of February 2001.

About Louvain-la-Neuve and its surroundings
Louvain-la-Neuve is located 30km from the southeast of Brussels in a hilly region. It is the youngest Belgian city dating from 1972 and has been created as a result of the separation from the old Alma Mater, which has been established in the Flemish town of Leuven since 1425. Since the beginning Louvain-la-Neuve was conceived as a pedestrian city integrated with University buildings. Its contemporary architecture has been inspired by medieval cities while keeping human proportions. Now some 16 000 students and about 9 000 residents live in Louvain-la-Neuve.
