Fellowship positions are available for DOCTORATE STUDENTS of the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom) and Associated (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and possibly Switzerland but only from 2003) Countries.

ECSE groups all the scientists operating in the title area at The University of Milano, hence Fellows will have the possibility of training in a wide subject spectrum ranging from electrochemistry to colloid and surface sciences, from corrosion to metallurgy.

Fellowship duration may range from 3 to 12 months. Within these limits, specific agreement is made directly with the local supervisor.

To be eligible, each Fellow must be a national of the above States or residing in the Community for the last 5 years, hold a University (or equivalent institution of higher education) Degree, pursue doctoral studies in a chemical area, and be of age 35 or less (with extension for military service and/or childcare).

Each Fellows will receive ˆ 1,200 per month (gross salary) as a contribution to accommodation and subsistence expenses. In addition the return travel expenses (to the last Country of activity) will be covered by ECSE.

As female co-ordinator of ECSE, I warmly encourage female candidates to apply for Fellowship positions. In addition to the research activities, Milano (Italy's financial, economical, and commercial capital) offers a culturally stimulating environment and a capillary connection with all the tourist destinations of the whole peninsula.
