Jobs and PhD Positions Indiana University, USA
The Atmospheric Science Program within the Department of Geography, Indiana University is interested in recruiting students for the Fall 2000, Spring 2001 and Fall 2001 semesters. We have both teaching and research assistant positions available.
The research interest areas that we are keen to get students involved in are listed below. In brackets after each topic is the name of the faculty member(s) working in that area.
- Measurement and/or modelling of energy and water exchanges in urban areas. Field work in North America and/or Europe (Grimmond)
- Meso-scale modelling: inclusion of urban areas, forest, topography (Grimmond, Schmid, Su)
- Forest-atmosphere exchange studies of CO2, water and energy (measurement and/or modeling) (Schmid, Grimmond, Su)
- Water and heat transfer in the soil-vegetation-atmosphere system (Schmid, Grimmond, Su)
- Climatology of soil moisture and forest fire risk in the Amazon (in-situ measurements) (Schmid)
- Scale aggregation modeling of surface-atmosphere exchange (Schmid)
- Measurement and modeling of atmosphere-surface exchange of nitrogen compounds over terrestrial and marine surfaces (Pryor, Barthelmie)
- Analysis of urban air quality data with emphasis on spatio-temporal variability and human exposure (Pryor).
- Numerical modeling of heterogeneous chemistry (Pryor).
- Recent climatic change as revealed by growing-season variations (Robeson)
- Evaluation of climatic change using time-series methods (including wavelets) (Robeson)
- Geostatistical analysis in applied climatology (Robeson)
We are keen to recruit Ph.D. and M.S. students with strong science backgrounds (physics, math, chemistry, computer science as well as those with prior training in atmospheric sciences, climatology or geography).
