Honour for EURASAP Founder Helen ApSimon
Helen ApSimon, former president and the founder of EURASAP, has been awarded the honour of CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in the recent
Queen's list of honours. The award is given in recognition of services to air pollution. Helen has spent over 30 years bridging the gap between the scientific community and policy makers. She became involved in modelling
regional air pollution in the 1980's and her work came to prominence after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. She has spent lots of time working in Eastern Europe tackling acid rain and cross-border air pollution. EURASAP is her initiative and indirectly the award is recognition of EURASAP's
role in disseminating air pollution expertise. She will be invited to Buckingham Palace to receive her award, either from the Queen or Prince Charles, who has an interest in air pollution.
